Editorial Director

I-5 Publishing is seeking an Editorial Director to lead, develop and evolve the company’s editorial vision, voice, creative execution and overall content strategy. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Editorial Director will oversee a growing number of magazines, and a line of ancillary products, while managing an art department and multiple editorial teams. In addition, he or she will play an important role in the accompanying websites, as well as the sales and marketing strategies for each print brand.
The Editorial Director has a deep and abiding passion for magazines, and is experienced in creating both the print product and its accompanying multimedia extensions. He or she brings a proven track record of experience with editorial leadership, product development, and brand strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Work with editorial teams to create, develop and implement editorial plans along with additional products, events and projects.
· Work with art department to ensure that the products deliver on their visual potential.
· Work with digital, sales and marketing teams to help ensure brand strategy across platforms.
· Work with direct and newsstand teams to help create products that meet sales goals and needs.
· Work with production department to help ensure products are created and delivered in a timely manner.
· Work with production editor to ensure editorial and art teams are supported in their efforts.
· Oversee individual magazine teams and art department.
· Work with editors and art directors to manage and adhere to budgets.
· Hire and manage staff as necessary.
· Represent I-5 Publishing at internal and external functions/events.
Desired Skills and Experience
· 10+ years of editorial experience in print magazines
· Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or English
· Highly collaborative team player with a proven track record in effectively directing and managing a team while promoting conceptual thinking
· Proven success in conceptualizing and developing new, innovative ideas
· A solid understanding of digital media; an ability to adapt to the changing landscape of technology
· Motivated, proactive, highly organized and able to adapt to changing priorities
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Team player and problem solver in a demanding, deadline-driven environment
· A sense of enthusiasm, passion and commitment to continually bringing a fresh perspective to making magazines
· A strong appreciation for niche-market publications and their audiences

Candidates must be enthusiastic self-starters who can manage tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects and develop compelling content at an established but evolving publishing company. The editor has a deep and abiding passion for magazines, and is experienced in creating branded, ancillary titles. He or she brings a proven track record of experience with editorial leadership, product development and brand strategy. The Editor reports to the Editorial Director.
Responsibilities:

Must love cats or dogs. The Managing Editor reports to the Editor/Group Editor.
